The 2026 Carlow Credit Union Football Leagues start this week

The 2026 Carlow Credit Union Senior Football Leagues throw-in this week with a full round of fixtures in all Divisions, starting with Division Five on Wednesday evening, 11 March.

Division One starts on Friday, 13 March, with the stand-out fixture a repeat of the 2025 County SFC Final between Champions Old Leighlin and beaten finalists Rathvilly in Fr Ryan Park on Friday evening at 8pm. A late Cathal Coughlan point was all that separated the teams the last time and there won’t be much between them on Friday night either.

Another mouth-watering tie is the meeting of 2025 League Champions, Tinryland, and traditional rIvals Éire Óg in Páirc Uí Bhriain at 7pm on Friday evening. The YIs consigned Tinryland to Intermediate football when the teams last met in the SFC Relegation Play-off so no doubt this will be a revenge mission for the men in the blue and white hoops.

Elsewhere in Division One, neighbours Clonmore and St Patricks will battle it out in Woodside at 7.30pm on Friday. Both teams are playing Intermediate Championship football in 2026 and will be hoping the experience of playing against Senior teams will stand to them come Championship time.
