Allianz Division 4 Football Round 7
Carlow V Longford
Netwatch Cullen Park
Sunday 5th April
2.00pm
Referee: James Bermingham (Cork)
Although the hopes of promotion were ended last Sunday there is still some room for Carlow to finish their league campaign on a high. Carlow face the unbeaten and already promoted Longford who will also look to keep their momentum going as they will face Offaly or Antrim in the Division 4 Final.
Longford got a scare on the first day when they drew with Leitrim but after that they went on to get a few tight wins over Antrim and Waterford, they also won by fifteen points in London. Last Sunday the most significant win of their league campaign came when they beat Offaly by 0-13 to 0-10. Manager Jack Sheedy is happy that they come to Carlow without needing a win.
Franics McGee has scored 1-17 for Longford so far this campaign and Carlow will need to be vigilant to stop him. A win for Carlow would be a consolation prize but they will still go out to get the two points. Carlow will finish in fourth if they win and Waterford beat Leitrim. Only Longford and Offaly have conceded less than Carlow in the league this year and Carlow have only conceded two goals. In fact they went over 4oo minutes between conceding the first and the second.
