As one of the recommendations arising from the highly successful Carlow GAA Football Forum, the proposed divisional teams debate is set to hot up in early 2015. The idea of a County Championship, comprising divisional teams from the intermediate and junior grades competing alongside current senior Clubs, is one that is sure to generate a lively talking point over the festive period. While both sides of the argument have merit, surely the overall goal of the proposal that improved competition will eventually lead to a sustained improvement in our County teams is the most important of all ? While Clubs are the bedrock of our proud County, it has to be remembered that in these days of fierce competition from other sports, if our County teams are performing well consistently it will surely encourage more children to play our games in the future ?
