This weekend the first adult championship fixtures of 2015 will take place. Both the Intermediate and Junior Hurling Championships will signal the start of championship season in Carlow.
Intermediate Hurling
The Intermediate Hurling Championship starts tonight with three matches taking place. Erin’s Own play reigning champions Mount Leinster Rangers at 7.30 pm in Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow Town play St. Mullin’s in Myshall and Naomh Brid play Naomh Eoin in Spellman Park. The Intermediate Hurling Championship has been very competitive over the last few years and MLR needed a replay to overcome Naomh Eoin last year.
Naomh Eoin are the most successful team at this grade with six county titles but MLR and St. Mullin’s are both hot on their heels with five each. Carlow Town have been strong in recent years and won the title in 2011 and 2013.
