While the disappointment of last Saturday night lingers around the County, spare a thought for our up and coming stars of tomorrow. After the Carlow Colts hurlers got our underage inter-county season off to a flier a few weeks ago, last Saturday was the turn of our young footballers. The Talent Academy Squad system has really taken off this year with all young players striving to become a Carlow Colt and represent our County at their respective age levels.
Becoming a Colt is of course, not easy and the players have had to go through the trial process to make the final selection for this year’s Squads. The talent that is in our County at both codes is nothing short of sensational. These Squads will be carefully nurtured by their excellent volunteer Management teams and the whole development process is carefully monitored by Carlow GAA Coaching and Games Staff. It is our aim that these promising young players will not only develop the components vital to succeed at their chosen code at adult level but we also strongly espouse the virtues of; Respect, Fair Play, Discipline and Hard Work. Carlow GAA strives to develop the boys in our Talent Academy as rounded individuals as well as quality players.
Last Saturday our U.14, 15 and 16 Colts showed us a glimpse of the promise Carlow’s footballing future could hold. They now need the encouragement to pursue their dream of playing adult inter-county football. Let’s do everything we can to deliver them to that stage, after that let their God-given talent do the rest.
Carlow is rising…..
