‘Sound Supporters’

Carlow GAA’sSOUND SUPPORTERS – Be Sound or Be Silent !initiative is designed to tackle sideline abuse at at our games in a positive, innovative way.

Starting this season with a pilot at the U.11 age group, we plan to roll out the new measure for every underage level in the coming years.

We expect that by encouraging supporters who attend our games to; Be Sound or Be Silent !’, we will eliminate the use of foul or abusive language and aggressive behaviour from our sidelines.

Being ‘sound’ is a term very local to our County and we want to see as many ‘Sound Supporters’ as possible at matches going forward.

Referees will now have the capacity to discontinue games if they hear foul or abusive language from supporters. This step is one which we hope will never have to be taken, but we are very prepared to act accordingly should the need arise.

We are working closely with our Clubs to ensure there is maximum engagement with this initiative and ask that all adult members lead by example. We feel sure that very soon, Carlow GAA’s sidelines will be populated only by ‘Sound Supporters’ and provide a positive environment for everyone to enjoy our national games !
