Ticket Details: Tickets can be bought on tickets.ie, from Super Valu and Centra. Tickets can also be bought from the ticket office on the day of the game at Netwatch Cullen Park. Tickets are €20 for the stand and €10 for the terrace. Senior Citizens and Students can get a €5 refund when they produce valid I.D. at stiles no. 15 (at the stand) and 1 & 28 (at the terrace).
Carlow Senior Footballers return to competitive action this Saturday night. Six weeks have passed since Carlow finished their league campaign with a loss against Longford. After a very promising start to the league which saw Carlow unbeaten after four games a crushing blow came in the form of a narrow loss to Offaly which derailed Carlow’s promotion hopes. Carlow’s improvement from the 2014 campaign was clear to see and the defensive efforts of Kieran Nolan and Shane Redmond allowed Carlow go from conceding twelve goals last season to just three this season. Carlow went four games without conceding a goal.
Laois will be in division two next year. Victories over Galway and Roscommon and a draw with Meath were enough to keep Laois up. Donie Kingston scored 3-24 during the league, he is one of many who Laois can call on to get a score. Brendan Quigley and John O’Loughlin are a formidable midfield pairing and Carlow will not have it easy.
Although victories over Laois are not too common, the local derby is always one relished by players and fans alike. Twenty seven years have passed since Carlow last beat Laois in the Leinster Championship and before that it was 1961 since Carlow beat the Laois men. In total Carlow have beaten Laois seven times out of the twenty nine times they have met in the championship.The winners will face Kildare in the next round.
